Two cheat death after mining pit cave-in

Two gold miners cheated death last Wednesday  when the walls of their pit caved in at Aurora, Mango Landing, Region Seven.
According to reports coming out from the Region, the  two miners, Ivor Williams of East Coast Demerara and Rawlins (only name given) of Mango Landing were carrying out duties in the pit approximately 7:30 hours Wednesday last, when misfortune struck.
Williams was admitted to hospital with a broken leg. He has since been discharged.
The miner related that he and Rawlins, were both working in the pit when they observed the walls crumbling around them. He said that with the aid of several of their colleagues, they managed to scuttle to safety.
Williams explained that while being rescued out of the pit, his left leg got broken in two places.
He was subsequently air dashed to Georgetown, where was admitted to the Male Medical Ward at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC).
Rawlins was treated for his injuries at a health facility in the said region.
Williams exclaimed that he is very grateful to be alive and praised the swift action of his colleagues, because without their help he would have been a dead man.
Several weeks ago two miners perished after a 75-foot deep pit collapsed, at White Hole, Mahdia.
The incident had drawn the attention of senior officials in the mining industry.
