Dear Editor,
It is incumbent upon me to angrily pen this condensed missive. I speak on behalf of the hard working and humble sanitation workers at the University of Guyana (UG), namely the cleaners.
These concerned and caring females work under the duress of primitive human beings, masking themselves as academics.
These ‘quack’ scholars manifest their authentic sub-human soubriquet via their natural propensity to eat, sleep, mess and even mate, all in one night, and in one place, chiefly the ‘Fals.’ Now here are the questions.
First, most of these students emanate from the domain of Social Science, and as expected, their behaviour is consistent with their academic status: not too bright. Many of them are in this faculty because they were unsuited and unqualified to be elsewhere.
Hence, there is the concomitant behaviour. Simply and honestly stated-these asinine animals leave the class rooms and the immediate surroundings in a condition tantamount to their pig-sty-like homes. If one is in doubt, then I suggest a visit any early morning, with one of the cleaners.
It is enough to provoke puking. To me, these cleaners have the right to refuse to clean on such occasions. Now why do I say, and even propose this?
This is because this behaviour smacks of animalism, disrespect and mental vacuity. Thus it must be arrested. Currently, technology and finance may not allow a careful monitoring of the classrooms, in order to ‘nail’ the culprits, but still some measures need to be put into place. Since trash bins are available, but not used, then there must be some kind of co-operation from a pressure/spying group in order to curb this primitive tendency.
It is up to the authorities that be, to enact this venture. This should not be difficult: after all the UGSS made ‘loads of promises.’
The second irksome condition is that of traffic noise on campus. I wonder how many campuses around the world allow vehicular traffic of students at large (the taxi and hire cars), and staff members to drive across the campus at any time. It is very disruptive and must cease. Why do you think there are parking lots on campuses? UG of course has one, and if this cannot suffice, then there is adequate space to build a second one.
Also many owners leave on the alarms of their vehicles, and these, on too many occasions have arrested academic activities. This should never be.
The slide has now entered the library which is now the major chat centre, for various group members, or by individuals on the cell phones. I wonder what next – open air sex? Already one has become inured to the canine dwellers.
