Have you seen them? Well they are in Guyana and only a few have seen them so far but that does not alter the fact that the Manhattans and the Chi Lites have arrived for two spectacular nights of musical ecstasy that promises to thrill local music lovers to the hilt. The curtains go up tonight at the National Cultural Centre with a repeat performance tomorrow night when the Rotary Club presents its Christmas Concert, also at the same venue.
Then there is Anthony Watson, lead singer of the Chi Lites, here to support the efforts of the Manhattans with golden songs of yesteryear. The show is promoted by John Hunt of Hunt’s Entertainment in collaboration with television personality, Mondale Smith.
Earlier in the year Watson had performed at the National Cultural Centre and his golden voice had wowed the small but appreciative audience with such renditions as ‘Have you seen her, ‘Homely Girl’ and ‘Oh Girl.’ He is back to fill the chasms of the unfulfilled.
The Manhattans is a very busy group and according to promoter Hunt, they had just left a successful performance in New York.
Over the coming months they are booked to the hilt. After their two-night show here they are scheduled to return to New York for another live performance with Gerald Alston and Blue Lovett at the Scullers Jazz Club.
The local show is sponsored by Carib and Digicel and already the tickets are going like hot cakes. Those still without a ticket may purchase from the National Cultural Centre or Nigel’s Supermarket, Robb and Light Streets.
