The Guyana Telephone and Telegraph Company (GT&T) has launched its E-magine Broadband service on the lower East Bank Demerara.
As part of this expansion, customers residing at Eccles and Grove/Diamond Housing Schemes will see their service being activated, the company said in a press release.
Telephone numbers ranging between 233-2000-233-3999 in the Eccles area, numbers ranging from 233-5000-233-7999 in Nandy Park, numbers 265-0000-265-6999 in Diamond, and numbers 216-0000-216-9999 in the Diamond Grove Housing scheme will benefit first.
E-magine is GT&T’s broadband service which brings high-speed and high-bandwidth to homes and businesses over copper telephone lines already installed.
With E-magine Broadband, the company said consumers and businesses can take advantage of having a fixed, always-on connection to the Internet.
“The E-magine service allows for consumers to access popular social websites, partaking in online gaming, educational activities, banking and other internet based applications, while the business community can take advantage of the lightning speeds to engage the world of commerce through the internet connectivity,” GT&T stated.
The company reported that businesses in Georgetown have been able to take full advantage of the E-magine service to enable online ordering of goods and services as well as to engage financial transactions through online banking.
At the launch of E-magine in July this year Chief Executive Officer, of GT&T, Yog Mahadeo, had assured that the service which serves customers in Georgetown and up to the village of Beterverwagting, East Coast Demerara, will be rolled out in phases.
The extension to Diamond is part of the roll out.
According to GT&T, E-magine broadband service has resulted in residents in Georgetown and its environs having access to four times more bandwidth at cheaper prices.
