Grisean Grant’s brilliant all-round performance led Achievers of West Berbice to an easy 10-wicket win over Rosignol United as the 2010 Ricks & Sari Agro Industries Under-13 Cricket Competition continued in Berbice.
In the match played at Rosignol, Achievers won the toss and chose to bat first. After losing their first wicket with only 4 runs scored, Grant and Osbert Cain put on 112 for the 2nd wicket before Cain fell for 61. After another quick wicket fell, Grant was joined by Darius Nedd and they added another 70 for the 4th wicket before Grant departed for 81 at 189 -4.
Nedd who scored 72, assisting Achievers in reaching 239 all out in their first innings as Haresh Singh took 5-96 and Shemar Flatt 2-39.
Rosignol United replied with 66 all out in their first innings with the Achievers off-spinner Keodel Braithwaite taking 6-11 and pacer Grant with 3-26 doing the damage.
With a massive first innings lead of 173 runs, Achievers opted not to enforce the follow on and batted again before declaring at 54 without loss with Grant on 36 and Jamal Alfred on 18, leaving Rosignol United to get 228 in their 2nd innings for an outright win.
Rosignol United were bowled out for 53 with Shemar Flatt (21) being the only batsman to get pass 6 as Grant returned to snatch 6-12 to end with match figures of 9-38. Joseph Nicholson took 2 for 7 from 3 Overs.
