Banks DIH has contributed the first Prize Cash Incentive of $500,000 to the winner of the 2nd annual Bartica Football Festival to be staged at the Bartica Community Centre this coming week.
The Knockout Tournament will kick-off tomorrow with the March past of the eight competing teams followed by a double-header.
Last Friday, Banks DIH Bartica’s Branch Manager, Trevolta Chance presented a cheque for half-a-million dollars to the Tournament’s Coordinator Isalam. Mr. Chance in his brief remarks expressed his company’s pleasure in being associated with the competition.
“We are pleased to be on board with this Tournament here in Bartica, the biggest to be staged. We believe this Tournament has the ability to contribute tremendously to the development of the sport in the Community and it is our hope that it can grow and mature whereby our company will continue to assist in whatever way we can. I would like to wish all the teams to play to your best while being friendly and clean in the true spirit of the game. May the best team win,” Chance implored.
The eight competing teams are defending champs Bartica Beacons, Ballers United, Wolves United, Rising Stars, Lazio, Rivers View, Potaro All Stars and Itaballi United.
Competition will continue on Tuesday, with the final two first round matches set for Wednesday, while the semi-finals will be played on Thursday. The final is set for Christmas night.
Among the other sponsors are Hopkinson Mining, Junior Tracy, Atkinson Trading, Michael Martindale, Eon Ferrier, Jilson Supermarket and Bice Trucking Service.
