Dec 17, 2010 Letters
Dear Editor,
It is after much consideration that I have decided to pen this letter to share my concern and may say my vision for a new Guyana.
For too long we have been mouthing that Guyana is rich in natural resources yet there is nothing to show for it, this in it self is the dark reality. I will therefore waste no time in going over the negatives, which have now blanketed our beloved nation.
I therefore call on all Guyanese of the Diaspora to pressure the opposition parties to do that which make sense, all in an effort to ensure that genuine change takes place come next year.
Never again should one party remain in government for too long. No matter how good they may seem at first, because those that lead are humans, therefore ownership develops in addition to several other negative traits.
I there submit to you that presidential candidates should have the following characteristics:
1. Love for God
2. Love for Country (Guyana)
3. Hate Evil which includes Corruption
4. Have a Healthy Self Esteem
5. Family Oriented
6. Have a working knowledge of international relations and diplomacy
7. Plans for the Diaspora to return to fulfill
I trust that the masses or the few who have remained in Guyana and the majority around the globe can agitate to ensure that the necessary and over due change comes to Guyana. Let us therefore stop working on emotion and work with logic, being cognisant of the fact that the hour is late.
To the leader of the main opposition, Robert Corbin we thank you for your time and service to the party and country, the time has come for you to do the honourable thing and address your supporters, encouraging them to think big and to move to the next level.
Let us have a transparent electoral process so that at the end of the day we may all be able to accept that it was fair.
The time has come for Guyana to really become the mother of the Caribbean producing and providing for CARICOM all that is needed. We have it and we know we do.
May the good Lord bless and keep us all.
