“Where can I get justice? Ever since my two grandchildren were hit by the driver, all of the medical expense was thrust on me,” said Mrs. Lynette Gibson, of Mainstay Village, Essequibo Coast.
Gibson said that she is fed up with remaining quiet.
The angry woman said that she has been burdened with all of her grandchildren’s medical expenses, ever since they were involved in an accident on the Mainstay Public Road, on September 18, last.
According to Mrs. Gibson, the driver of the vehicle failed to fulfill his promise of assistance with the children’s medical expenses.
Shania and Shinella Gibson were hit on the Mainstay Public Road while exiting a car. According to Mrs. Gibson both sisters, seven and nine years old, were attempting to cross the Mainstay Public Road, when a speeding car, which was proceeding south on the Mainstay Public Road, hit both girls. Shania sustained head injuries, while Shinella’s left leg was dislocated.
Gibson said that because of the severity of the impact, both girls had to be taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital. Shenilla had to be airdashed because her condition was the more serious. Steel had to be implanted into her leg. She started walking again a week ago, but with a limp.
Shania, who suffered massive head injuries, Gibson said, was only able to attend school two weeks back.
She said that the child sporadically suffers from severe headaches.
Only recently a police officer took some statements about the accident and promised that the matter would be brought before the court. So far nothing has materialized, Gibson vented.
The girls attend the C.V.Nunes Primary School.
