Dear Editor,
This is the second time in recent history that our dread ‘Gestapo’ government has decided to hide the social ills of our society by rounding up and detaining those less fortunate persons of our society.
I refer to Kaieteur News headline, “UNASUR detention triggers man’s death”, which speaks of the death of a mentally ill man.
Our government is so concerned with public image overseas rather than the image that is perceived by the local populace.
During the ICC World Cup similar actions were taken as if to say Guyanese are not suffering any social ills.
During my recent visit to Guyana I observed that our capital city looks more like a garbage dump rather than the moniker “Garden City.”
I saw the cemetery in Georgetown looking more like a small rain forest, while many streets resemble the face of the moon.
I have sat and study the construction of roads and other public infrastructures and I see waste.
Our nation is being governed by a ‘Gestapo’ with similar mentality of the dreaded German Nazi guards of World War II.
Anyone speaking up against this government is ridiculed and called “unpatriotic” and even have their personage defile either with human waste or corrosive substances, such as acid. Some people are even accused of heinous crimes in order to stop them from exposing this government.
I recently wrote about Synergy Holdings which is an organisation not recognised in the states it claims to have done business. This is the type of activity that causes me to label this government as ‘Gestapo’. Yes it is a strong term, but it is true.
I speak not only from an observation point of view, but also from the exposure of the heavy-handedness of this government. We are also cursed with a corrupt police force.
Many of those people in authority need help instead of being rounded up like stray animals (which they rounded by the way) and placeed in the psychiatric ward.
Why isn’t that out-of-touch Minister of Social Services not doing more to help these people get the public help they need.
She cannot and she will let them suffer just like her ministry let poor Neesa Gopaul died in an abusive situation. Rather than condemn the media for not coming on board in her schemes she is charged with helping, she should be out there talking to those in need of what her ministry can do for them.
I can continue my enumeration of the failures of this government. The PPP/Civic has only the first couple of years of their tenure to be proud of.
Under the guidance of then mellowed Dr. Cheddi Jagan we were moving forward, but ever since his demise the country as gotten worse than the dictatorial decades of the PNC.
The PNC/R1G is no better than the current administration because one honest man in that party passed away untimely, leaving that defunct organisation wanting for true leadership.
The PNC/R1G is part of the ‘Gestapo’ and I spare them no criticism, because they sit and collect their remunerations from the public coffers and then throw up picket signs claiming they are protesting injustice.
We are living in the worse state in the Western Hemisphere, even the Haitian has the presence of mind to get up in arms protesting the injustice visited upon them. Our state has been lullaby to sleep by some skillful persons and people who are magicians who engage in slight of hand tricks. A government that pumped US$200 million into a white elephant called the Skeldon Sugar Factory and billions of hard earn taxpayers’ dollars in failed projects. Yet again these same ‘Gestapo’ generals keep rewarding their cronies with the best jobs, the most lucrative contracts and lining their own pockets with kickbacks.
When I travel the world and I tell people I am from Guyana many comment “a beautiful natural nation being wasted by poor administration.” I defend my beloved nation because I believe that the future is bright for Guyana, because we cannot go any lower than this.
I repeat Mr. Editor we’re living in a ‘Gestapo’ controlled state. What next? The rounding up of the street vendors trying to eek a living out of this stifled economy? What is next – the tearing down of homes of those who have no other choice but to squat?
In my studies this is so parallel to what happened during the Nazi round up of those “imperfect” souls i.e. Jews, Gypsies, Blacks, and others not bearing the blonde hair blue criteria set forth by the criminals of humanity. Guyana is currently a social cesspool that should not be. A country with such vast natural resources and such natural talent in its people is being ruined by a careless and heartless bunch.
In closing for those who want to attack me after reading this feel free. Just know this I never killed anyone no matter what you’ve read in the news. I was never an abuser of women not once and I have always conducted myself with respect and decor.
