Handgun captain Dale Hing turned in a good performance to upstage his fellow shooters to claim the Spads Inc. sponsored Guyana National Rifle Association Year end Championships yesterday at the Timehri range.
The shoot consisted of 4 stages with the eventual winner being determined after the scores are combined along with a separate falling plate speed shoot. The first two stages were Practical pistol scenarios, the third stage a 9mm precision pistol shoot (10 rounds in 20 seconds from 15 metres) and the Final stage a .22 precision pistol shoot (10rds at 10 metres and 10rds at 15metres).
The falling plate speed shoot was an elimination match where the fastest shooter with the most plates down advanced to the next round.
The results are as follows:
Stage 1(practical pistol) – 1st- David Dharry, 2nd- Dr. Johan DaSilva, 3rd- Dale
Hing.
Stage 2 (practical pistol) – 1st- Dr. Johan DaSilva, 2nd- Dale Hing, 3rd- David Dharry.
Stage 3 (9mm precision) – 1st- Ryan McKinnon, 2nd- Gordon Richards, 3rd- Dale
Hing.
Stage 4 (.22 precision) – 1st – Gordon Richards, 2nd -James Singh, 3rd-
Lawrence Layne.
Overall scores – 1st- Dale Hing-487pts, 2nd- Dr. Johan DaSilva-484pts and 3rd-
David Dharry-474pts.
Speed shoot- 1st – Dale Hing, 2nd- David Dharry & 3rd- Murtland Smith.
