Coach of Atletico Roraima Perracio during an interview with Kaieteur Sport shortly before the commencement of a training session at the Parade ground assured Guyanese fans that they will witness the traditional Brazilian style of play commonly referred to as the Samba.
Atletico Roraima, a club from Boa Vista, Roraima in Brazil is here in Guyana to do battle against a Kashif & Shanghai All-Star combination tomorrow, the scheduled opening day of the 21st edition of the Annual Football Tournament, at the National Stadium, starting from 17:00hrs.
Perracio said that the club is one of the top teams in the country and because it represents Brazil, a country that is rated amongst the best teams in the world, they’ll be going all out for a win.
He added that even though not much is known to them about the opposition, he is confident that after the opening 15 minutes, he will know everything and make the adjustments if necessary.
Perracio asked to identify a few players who could provide the All-Stars with a few headaches mentioned the names of Clayton Robson De Lima, Heitor Gomes Neto as among those capable of tormenting the locals.
Commenting on the sodden conditions experienced during the practice session, the Coach said that they’ve prepared for any situation, adding that a lot of aerial tactics and passing will be the order of the day due to the heavily grassed outfield.
Quizzed on the game tactics he hopes to employ, Perracio revealed that the strategy is called the magic square and it simply means closing the middle and coming out counter attacking fast on the flanks.
He extended thanks to the Kashif &Shanghai Organisation for inviting them to be part of their tournament and urged all Guyana to come out and see true traditional Brazilian football at work.
The 21-man Atletico Roraima squad reads: Cristiano Rodrigo Besuska, Thales Bruno Ribeiro De Souza, Cláudio Germano Silva E Lima, Nailson Holanda, Clayton Robson De Lima, Gidelson Tabosa, Wagner De Souza, Luiz Paulo De Lima Castro, Dennis Paixão Da Silva, Hugo Rayká Valente Paiva, Kleythonn Ribeiro Lima De Sena, Kayo Fernando Lima De Souza, Fernando Araújo Souza, Marcos Raylson Pinheiro De Carvalho, Samid Teixeira De Lemos, Tiago Carlos Brito, Heitor Gomes Neto, Evandro Maxima Da Rocha Costa, Robemar Da Costa Gois, Eduardo Costa Lima, Welligton Rodrigues Da Silva.
