Shiwtahal’s 7-7 confirms No. 2’s place in Q/finals
The 2010 Spready’s Bakery Berbice 50-over Under-19 Cricket Competition resumed recently with No. 2 winning their latest Zone B (West Bank Berbice) preliminary match to end their zone unbeaten as they advanced to the quarter-finals.
In their match against D’Edward which was reduced to 35 overs, No 2 reached 176-6 in 35 overs. D’Edward then slumped from 40 without loss to 84 all out as off-spinner Krishna Shewtahal befuddled the batsmen with 7-7 runs from 5 overs to register the best bowling figures in an innings so far in the competition.
After Port Mourant scored 158 against Yakusari young Caribs, their left arm spinner Besham Deolall took 5-14 from 6.3 overs to bowl out Yakusari for 58.
When Albion Community Centre’s leg spinner Avinash Wajid took 4-20 to help dismiss Rose Hall Town Pepsi B for 81, Albion, in reply were shakily placed at 10-2 before Guyana Under-19 batsman Harrinarine Chattergoon (46 N.O) and a former national Under-15 all-rounder Sharmindra Hardyal (29 N.O) put on 72 in an unbroken 3rd wicket stand to see Albion home.
Cledwin Cort’s 51 was crucial for Young Warriors in their 27 run win over Rose Hall Community Centre.

At Yakusari in Black Bush Polder, Port Mourant beat Yakusari Young Caribs by 100 runs. Port Mourant 158 in 33 Overs with Shailendra Shameer, Arif Chan 32, Besham Deolall 28, Karran Ramkesar 3 for 20, Fiaz Gafoor 2 for 10, Ryan Bownauth 2 for 35, Cheddi Bownauth 2 for 42. Yakusari Young Caribs 58 in 20.3 Overs with Besham Deolall 5 for 14, Bisham Persaudie 2 for 6.
At Albion, Albion Community Centre beat Rose Hall Town Pepsi B by 8 wickets. Rose Hall Town Pepsi B 81 in 38.4 Overs with Viendra Gooniah 36, Avinash Wajib 4 for 21, Sharmindra Hardyal 2 for 23. Albion Community Centre 82 for 2 in 19.2 Overs with Harrinarine Chattergoon 46 N.O, Sharmindra Hardyal 27 N.O.
At Cumberland in Canje, Young Warriors beat Rose Hall Community Centre by 27 runs.
