An 18-year-old was pronounced dead on arrival at the Port Kaituma Hospital after a pick-up vehicle in which he was travelling turned turtle early yesterday morning. The dead man has since been identified as Delon Jordan of Port Kaituma.
According to reports out of the area, the man along with his mother were travelling from Port Kaituma to a mining location. The vehicle had been loaded at Port Kaituma. In the vicinity of two hills at Ten Mile Junction around 4:00 hours the vehicle encountered difficulties and toppled.
It was negotiating a hill at the time. Both occupants were flung out of the vehicle resulting in them sustaining injuries.
Both Singh and his mother were rushed to the Port Kaituma Hospital where Singh was pronounced dead on arrival.
This newspaper was told that the man’s mother has since been air dashed to the Georgetown Public Hospital where she was being treated up to press time.
The dead man’s sister, Shelly Singh, was at home when she got the news. His father Wayne Jordan turned up at the house upon hearing the news but was too distressed to talk.
