Worried neighbours who went looking for 84 year old Milton Griffith, of 42 Walker Terrace, East La Penitence, found his partly decomposing body lying in his living room yesterday.
From all appearances the elderly man who lived alone was dead for almost one week of natural causes. One neighbour who spoke to Kaieteur News said that Griffith was last seen last Monday in his front yard.
The neighbour further told this publication that early this morning, residents started smelling a foul odour coming from Griffith’s home.
Soon after a few children from the community went calling for Mr. Griffith and found his decomposing body in the house. The police and the funeral parlour were immediately summoned.
Kaieteur News was told that the man’s nephews came shortly afterwards and secured the house. Investigators have almost ruled out foul play but investigations are still continuing.
