The Community-based Rehabilitation Programme (CBR) in collaboration with the Disabled Peoples Network, sponsored an awareness walk from Queenstown village on the Essequibo Coast to Onderneeming in observance of International Disabled Day.
The walk attracted a wide cross section of disabled persons.
According to chairman of the Disabled Peoples’ Network, Seedat Katwaroo, the walk aims to better equip persons living in society with adequate knowledge of how to respect persons living with disabilities.
During the walk, public spirited persons also made financial contributions. The walk was held under the theme “Together for better”.
The walk is one of several activities for Disability Week in the Region. Other activities included an amputee cycle race and a domino competition.
