Club Captains for 2011 season appointed
Thirteen (13) young and energetic executives were elected on Tuesday November, 30 to the Management Team of the Rose Hall Town Youth & Sports Club as the club prepares itself for a new era without the guidance of its founder members.
The sweeping changes to the leadership of Guyana’s leading Youth & Sports Organisation took place at the Club’s 10th General Meeting at its Area ‘H’ Ground, Office. The new executives, most of whom are under 21 years-old were elected to replace long standing Executives who voluntary stood aside to allow the transition of power from one era to another.
President Keith Foster, Treasurer Deion Hicks, Secretary/CEO Hilbert Foster, Office Manager Moonish Singh, Cricket Director Patrick Lewis and Executive Member Keith Hicks were the only members of the outgoing Management to be re-elected as the Rose Hall Town Youth & Sports Club unveiled their ‘Leaders of the Future’.
Those elected for the first time were 19-year-old teacher Nermala Sewdat as Assistant Secretary, Organising Secretary – Ravi Narine, Assistant Organising Secretaries – Shemaine Campbelle and Erva Giddings; Assistant Office Manager – Dominic Rickie, Public Relations Officer – Lloydel Lewis, Assistant Public Relations Officer – Shawn Perreira and Committee Members – Surendra Kissoonlall, Shenella Mc Bean, Phaffiana Millington, Eon Hooper, Lenny Sanichar, Trevor Thomas and Devin Baldeo.
The Club also announced the names of cricket captains and their deputies for the 2011 season.
Under-13 – Daniel Lewis and Brandon Lewis; Under-15 – Arif Chan and Nicholas Cameron; Under-17 – Lloydel Lewis and Shawn Perreira; Under-19 – Eon Hooper and Dominic Rickie; Second Division – Ravi Narine and Eon Hooper; Females – Shemaine Campbelle and Erva Giddings and First Division – Assad Fudadin and Royston Crandon.
Secretary/CEO Hilbert Foster praised the membership of the club for having the courage and vision to see the need for younger blood in its leadership and for making the transition of leadership as smooth as possible as the club prepares for a future without most of its well known leaders who have been around for a long time.
Foster also announced that he would be stepping down at the end of this term of office in 2012 to allow the younger generation to take the organisation to greater heights.
The Long Serving Secretary/CEO has been mandated by the club to use his vast experience to guide the young leaders and to make sure that the Club remains with its outstanding record of service to youths and the less fortunate.
He challenged the new executives to be honest at all times, visionary in their planning and to remain as role models to all their peers; noting that the transition from experienced leaders to new leaders would not be easy.
He expressed confidence that the work of the Club would not be affected as the new management team has a wonderful combination of experience and youth. He also disclosed that from 2011 he intends to take a back seat role as an advisor in order to allow the young executives to take the lead as the Club aims to undertake a record breaking calendar of 115 programmes and projects.
Members of the Club during the General Meeting were given comprehensive a report on the Rose Hall Town Youth & Sports Club activities in 2010, financial report and plans for 2011.
The membership also expressed great satisfaction on the outstanding work of the organisation over the last two years under review while recommitting themselves to working harder in the future.
