Representing one’s country is always an opportunity of a lifetime and it is no different when it comes to the Canadian pair of footballers in Jordan Roberts and Khalil Chiza-Ricketts.
The 16-year-olds are very excited and ready to take the Junior Jaguars all the way to the Under-17 World Cup.
Roberts whose father hails from Buxton on the East Coast of Demerara and his mother from the Bauxite Mining Town of Linden plays in the Canadian Soccer Leagues with York Shooters. This is not the first time his talent is being used since he was a part of the Under-17 training camp in late August.
The confident Roberts disclosed that he is getting stronger and more confident as a player and is very comfortable now with his teammates.
“I am happy to be a part of the team and we are confident that we will do Guyana proud in this second round.”
Khalil Chiza-Ricketts whose mother is Guyanese disclosed that it is the first time he is here in Guyana but is looking forward to the challenge of representing Guyana.
Chiza-Ricketts plays centre midfield with West Rouge F.C in Canada and believes that he can add a lot to the Guyana team.
”I’m excited to be here and I’m hoping to win the group along with my other teammates over there. We are aiming to succeed and work hard for Guyana.” (Franklin Wilson)
