Persistent rainfall failed to dampen the spirit of players who took part in last Saturday’s Codol Compound golf tournament at the Lusignan Golf Club.
Fazil Haniff persevered on a soggy course to snatch the trophy in the tournament sponsored by New GPC.
Playing the Stableford system, which awards points for each hole depending on a player’s score, Haniff racked up 39 points and pipped a resurgent Brian Glasford who also scored 39 points but lost on a lower total for the last nine holes.
Third place went to the ever consistent Bholaram Deo with 35. Nearest to the pin was Esau Shamshudin.
Paul Bramm, company secretary said New GPC was pleased to sponsor the event and was surprised in visiting the club for the first time to see the top class facilities and the vibrancy of the membership.
Club treasurer Brain Hackett expressed the members’ profound appreciation for the sponsorship and also said how pleasant it was to have sponsors visiting and mixing with the players.
