Career thief, court regular and wanted man Chris Rampersaud, who was jailed in his absence and had an arrested warrant issued for him was recently caught and jailed.
Rampersaud who claims to be a Taxi Driver and Desmond Isaacs, 21, of no fixed place of abode were accused of robbery committed on Edward Taylor on Sunday 12th September 2010.
Taylor was robbed of one gold chain valued $250,000; a cell phone valued $30,000 and $30,000 cash after the men jumped over a fence and accosted the unsuspecting man.
They dealt him several lashes about his body and head after he resisted, before relieving him of his belongings and making good their escape.
The matter was reported and Isaacs was subsequently arrested and charged.
He was remanded to prison while his accomplice remained at large.
Rampersaud’s freedom was recently cut short when he was arrested in Georgetown by an alert cop. In court the man claimed that he was not aware that he had to attend court since he was away working in Georgetown.
