NUMBER SIXTY FOUR VILLAGE, CORENTYNE – The initial three suspects were released from police custody and another three were arrested as the probe continues into the death of 45-year old Guydat Narine Joseph called Rueben of Lot 42 Number Sixty-three Village.
About 19:15 hours last Tuesday, 65-year old Krissendeow Chunilal of Lot 13 Number Sixty-four Village, Corentyne and his two grandsons went to the Kali Mai Puja Temple he owns to perform his usual religious ritual when he saw his injured son-in-law in the building bleeding.
The victim sustained wounds to the head, neck and both arms.
Krissendeow Chunilal reportedly told police that he and his grandsons – 26-year old labourer Ram Permasar and 18-year old Kemram Singh took the victim to the Skeldon Hospital. He was declared dead about 20:45 hours the said night. Chunilal and his grandsons were detained but were released within 72 hours.
Joseph’s wife, Nankumarie told police that she and her husband had some domestic problem which resulted in him physically abusing her a few days before his death. He then left their home and she did not see him again.
