Police are in the process of instituting charges against two men who were apprehended in a house at Dredge Creek, Lower Pomeroon river early yesterday morning. They were found with a stolen 150 hp Yamaha engine and a quantity of marijuana.
Detectives made the bust during an operation in the Pomeroon river.
It was reported that persons in the environs of the Pomeroon River observed a boat drifting with an engine in the Dredge Creek area.
According to a Police source, on Thursday, Andrew Beharry filed a missing report about his 150 hp Yamaha engine at the Charity Police Station.
Police said that around 5:00 hours yesterday, they ventured into the Pomeroon River and discovered the engine and the men in a house at Dredge Creek,’
They added that upon noticing them, the men threw a bag containing a quantity of marijuana at them. The two were subsequently arrested when it was discovered they had the engine with them.
Charges are likely to be forthcoming against the two men who remain in police custody.
Police say the men were in the process of selling the engine.
