Dear Editors,
Congratulations to President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva on being awarded Guyana’s highest National Award, the Order of Excellence.
President Lula has not only served his nation well, but ably represented the cause of the Amazonia, and the Southern Hemisphere.
He has also been a champion for the underprivileged, and dispossessed throughout the hemisphere and beyond.
That said, my questions are whether Hugh Desmond Hoyte, S. C., and former President and Head of State of Guyana is not deserving of the Order of Excellence, and whether there are not other Guyanese who qualify for various National Awards?
