The police have managed to arrest three persons following the stabbing to death of a fisherman yesterday morning at Supply, East Bank Demerara.
Dead is 21-year-old Randy Joseph, of North West District, and of Westminster, West Bank Demerara.
Joseph was pronounced dead on arrival at the Diamond Diagnostic Centre, shortly after 01:00hrs yesterday.
Joylyn Joseph, the dead man’s aunt, told this newspaper that her nephew left her Westminster West Bank Demerara home some time after 21:00hrs on Friday night.
“His girlfriend kept calling him whole night to come out….and he get up and leave around 9’o clock to reach her,” explained the woman.
She said relatives received a telephone call from Joseph’s girlfriend around 01:00 hrs saying that he was stabbed and he died.
“She called us saying that they were drinking and someone stabbed him,” cried the aunt. The aunt added that her nephew is originally from the North West District, but would stay at her home because he works in the community as a fisherman.
Police sources yesterday confirmed that three persons were taken into custody and are assisting with information.
The persons in custody were identified as Joseph’s girlfriend “Nicola”, her brother and another male. Investigations are continuing into the matter. A post mortem examination is expected to be done on Monday.
