P&B XI prevail over Mahaica Kings XI
P&B XI defeated Mahaica Kings XI by 4 wickets when play in the Regal Stationery and Computer Centre Over 35 males T20 and females open Ten10 softball cricket tournament continued at venues around the country.
Mahaica Kings XI won the toss and batted on a wet pitch and struggled to 95 all out in 16.1 overs. Randy Sarkishun (25) and Naresh Persaud (18) were involved in a partnership of 53 in 48 balls and were the only two batsmen to register double figure scores.
Ramjit Singh was the pick of the bowlers for P&B XI, taking advantage of the early conditions to good effect, claiming the first 4 batsmen for a paltry 10 runs. He received support from Anil Rambarran (3-12 from 4 overs).
P&B XI started their reply slowly and at one time were struggling at 30-4 in 9 overs. Sensible batting by Nadir Baskh (34) and Fallim Mohamed (30) for a 62 runs partnership eventually saw them through.
Bhagwat Rampersaud (3-12 from 4 overs) and Raj Singh (3-14 from his 4 overs) were the pick of the bowlers. However, with the two completing their allotment of overs the situation changed and P&B XI prevailed as they coasted to victory at 97-6 in 18.1 overs.
Marshon SC also defeated Mahaica Kings, who was playing in their second match, by 5 wickets after the former team batted first and scored 102 all out in 19.2 overs. Nandalall Chan top scored with 39. Bowling for the opposition, Azhar Ali took 3-15 from 4 overs. In reply Marshon SC made 104-5 in 16.3 overs with Nan Persaud scoring an unbeaten 31. The competition continues this weekend with several matches as Linden teams join the action.
