Thirty-nine year-old Sharon Monplaisir, of Saint John Street, New Amsterdam, who was caught with a tube filled with cocaine concealed in her vagina, was yesterday sentenced to three years in jail by Magistrate Adela Nagamootoo when she appeared at the New Amsterdam Magistrate’s Court.
The woman had pleaded guilty a week earlier and sentencing was postponed on two previous occasions.
Prosecutor Roberto Figueira had earlier told the court that on Tuesday, November 16, a mobile patrol was doing their rounds when they noticed the known character (Monplaisir) standing in a yard. When she saw the police she started to act in a suspicious manner.
The woman was apprehended and searched, but nothing was found. She was however taken to the Central Police Station where another search was conducted by a female rank and the drug was unearthed in a ‘Krazy Glue’ tube hidden in her vagina.
The content was weighed and amounted to two grams.
The woman pleaded guilty and told the magistrate that “the thing” was her own. “Maam I am addicted to cocaine. It was my supply. I does smoke cocaine”
Prosecutor Figueira had reminded the court that it was the second time that Monplaisir was charged for such an offence.
The woman had retorted that the first time was for being in possession of smoking utensil.
After she was sentenced the woman was overheard saying “So much time buddy, for that lil bit ah thing… shucks man.”
