Samuel Dennis of Meadow Brook Gardens, Georgetown, was yesterday remanded to prison by Magistrate Geeta Chandan–Edmond for the offences of break and enter and larceny.
The accused, who was unrepresented, pleaded not guilty to both charges.
It is alleged that between Monday 22nd and Tuesday 23rd November, the defendant broke into a greens stall in Bourda Market and carted off two baskets of citrus fruits worth $8,000.
According to police reports, the virtual complainant (VC) Angela Clark on November 22, secured her stall and went home but upon her return the following day, she realised that a basket of limes and a basket of oranges were missing.
The matter was reported and following police investigation, Dennis was arrested and charged.
Prosecutor James Garnett objected to bail and requested that the accused be remanded.
Magistrate Chandan-Edmond granted his request and Samuel Dennis will make his next court appearance on December 7.
