There were eleven teams that advanced to the semifinals in the three categories of the General Marine Softball Tournament played last Sunday at the Ministry of Sports and Ministry of Education Ground on Carifesta Avenue.
Crabwood Creek United Females vs. Corriverton Queens billed to play at Scottsburg Ground was washed out by continuous heavy rain and thunderstorm. This match will be played this Sunday.
There were some outstanding performances in all three categories. Gangadai Singh took a “Helmet Trick” to lead 4R Lioness to victory over favourite Lusignan Street Warriors. Navin Singh who made a century last week made 65 not out in his team victory against Trophy Stall B. Vicky Ramsaywack took 4 wickets for 3 runs as Savage restricted three times centurion Hakim Majeed’s Success Master for 33 runs. Mahindra Ramlakhan made 27 and took 3 wickets for 10 runs to give Rockaway victory over Young Guns.
The eleven teams are: Male Over 40: Floodlights, Savage, Industry Super Kings, and Shattaville. Male Open: Rockaway, Better
Hope Warriors, Surprise X1, and El Commandante, Females: Wellwoman, 4R Lioness, Trophy Stall Angels.
Results:
Industry Super Kings defeated Defenders by 108 runs. Industry 187 runs for 6 wickets off 25 overs. Jagdesh Persaud 43, Eshwar Persaud 41, Hardat Singh 32, David Harper 32. Bowling for Defenders, Kabesh Persaud and Shafeez Mohamed took 2 wickets each. Defenders of Parika in reply 79 all out off 17.4 overs. Dubraj Singh made 38. Jagdesh Persaud took 4 for 7 and Motilall Chumandat and Pooran Singh took 2 wickets each for Industry.
Shattaville defeated Mac’s Masters by 5 wickets. Mac’s Masters made 123 for 6 off 25 overs. Danny Mohanram and Rudy Rodrigues made 26 each. Lionel Persaud took 3 for 15 and Randolph Perreira took 2 for 10 bowling for Shattaville. Shattaville in reply scored 125 for 6 off 24.3 overs. Linden McCoy and Lalchand Baboolall scored 32 each. Tony Singh took 2 for 25.
Floodlights defeated Mahaica Masters by 7 wickets. Mahaica Masters made 46 all out and Floodlights replied with 49 for 4.
Savage defeated Success by 9 wickets. Success made 33 all out. Vicky Ramsaywack took 4 wickets for 3 runs and Anil Rambarran 3 wickets for 2 runs. Savage in reply made 38 for 2 off 6.1 overs.
Rockaway defeated Young Guns by 65 runs. Rockaway made 123 for 8 off 15 overs. Mahindra Ramlakhan 27, then took 3 wickets for 10 runs to restrict Young Guns to 58 all out off 10.2 overs. Shazam Alli also took 3 for 18 bowling for Rockaway.
Better Hope Warriors defeated Trophy Stall B by 43 runs. Better Hope made 111 for 4 off 15 overs. Navin Singh made 65 not out. Trophy Stall B in reply made 68 all out. Lakeram Roopnarine took 3 for 11 for Better Hope.
El Commandante defeated Cena X1 by 52 runs. El Commandante made 90 all out. Feroze Amin 28. Cena X1 made 38 all out. Bogpaul Balram and Vicky Jaikissoon took 3 wickets each.
Surprise X1 defeated Uprising by 10 runs. Surprise X1 made 93 all out. Ravi Singh made 38. Uprising made 83 for 8. Clive Bristol 36 not out.
4R Lioness defeated Lusignan Street Warriors by 3 runs. 4R Lioness made 75 for 9 off 10 overs. Tracy Glasgow 23. Sabina Singh 3 for 19. Lusignan made 72 for 7 off 10 overs. Dawn Boodram 26. Gangadai Singh took a helmet trick (4 for 9).
Trophy Stall Angels defeated Ariel Divas by 22 runs. Trophy Stall Angels made 63 for 3 off 10 overs. June Ogle Thomas made 37. Ariel Divas made 41 for 9 off 10 overs. Junelle Nero took 3 for 2.
Wellwoman gained a walk over from Ogle Angels.
Semifinals for the two male categories will be played this Sunday. The two female semifinals and final will be played with the two male finals on Saturday December 4 starting 3:00pm at the GCC Ground, Bourda.
