Relatives of the Timehri woman who went missing on Diwali eve are calling on the Police to be more aggressive.
They said that they have not heard anything of the investigations into the woman’s disappearance. They have stepped up the search themselves. They have been posting and distributing posters at different locations, hoping that members of the public would help them locate her.
“I miss my daughter; I want my daughter,” her mother Champa Seenarine told the media yesterday.
Babita Sarjou, 28, was estranged from her husband and lived with her mother at Timehri. She told her mother that after work on Diwali Eve (November 4) she would pick up her son at his father’s place and go to see the Diwali motorcade.
Sarjou worked at BK International and had told her mother she would sign out at work at 17:30 hrs. She told her mother she would return home about 21:00 hrs. When she failed to do so, the mother figured she would come in late, and so went to bed.
On Diwali morning, the mother awoke to find her daughter not at home. Calls to her cell phone went unanswered.
Later, the mother made a report to the Timehri station that her daughter was missing, but up to now, the Police have not issued any new details.
The woman’s estranged husband, Anand, said that he did not see Babita nor did she come and pick up their son.
Babita’s mother feels that the Police are not doing enough.
Kaieteur News understands that Anand and Babita are in court over various issues.
Babita Sarjou’s relatives are pleading to the public to aid them in every possible way. They want anyone to call 592-688-9751, 592-629-7621 or contact the nearest police station.
