An illegal electricity connection has caused another death and this time the victim has been identified as 40-year-old Sophia resident, Leslie Clarkson, called “Metro”. Clarkson’s body was found in front of his 702 ‘D’ Field Sophia home some time around 07:00hrs yesterday by neighbours.
Clarkson’s brother, Warren, yesterday told this publication that relatives received news about the electrocution early yesterday morning.
He explained that someone called his mother, Joyce, and informed her, and they immediately went to his brother.
The brother said that relatives quickly rushed over to his brother’s home and found his body lying on the parapet leading to his house.
He said neighbours told relatives that someone found him lying on the ground. No one could have given the family any information.
Furthermore, a neighbour told this publication that the area had a power outage and Clarkson was seen climbing a utility pole.
The neighbour further explained that it was while Clarkson was about to attach the connection that the electricity came back on.
“Soon as he was about to connect de wire de light come back on…The current throw he off de pole,” said the neighbour. The wire was still attached to the body and by the time the first people reached the scene the body was smoking.
The police and relatives were immediately summoned to the scene. The police are still continuing their investigation.
