Banks DIH to once again sponsor main event

Starting yesterday with the Ryan Crawford end of season meet, the horseracing bandwagon is expected to go full speed ahead with a race meet projected for every two weeks or succeeding weekends until the start of the New Year.
The Rising Sun Turf Club meet which is slated for next Sunday November 28 is next in line at the club’s track Arima Park, West Coast Berbice. The club, in association with the Lions Cub of Durban Park and the Central Demerara Lions Club, will be staging their annual one day fund raising horserace meet in aid of charity.
Nine races are listed on the day’s card with competitors set to vie for over $3.5M, which will be available in cash and trophies.
Entries closed yesterday and a number of racehorses have registered to be a part of the day’s programme, including some of the top runners in the country.
Banks DIH, Chester Fry Chicken of Bush Lot, West Coast Berbice and Hablaw’s Meat Centre so far are some of the main sponsors on board.
Bank DIH limited has already given a commitment to sponsor the main event with an injection of over $800,000. That event will be for C class horses and will see the winner scooting away with $400,000 plus the Banks DIH trophy over a distance of 1400M.
The three year old event for Guyana and West Indies Bred horses is the co-feature with a purse of $250,000 on offer over 1100M.
Two Year old Guyana and West Indies bred race has a winner’s money of $200,000 with the distance being set at 1100M. There is also a race for Guyana Bred and born two year old horses. This event has winning prize money of $150,000 and is another 1100M affair.
The E Class race which will also be run over 1100M, will see the winner taking away the $160,000 first prize. There is the G class event with a $140,000 first prize available for the winner with the horses down to gallop over 1400M.
The H class event has a winning tag of $130,000 and is over 1400M. The organisers have indicated that over six horses must enter for this event before it is run.
There are two races for I class horses. The I1 race is a 1400M affair while the 13 event will be run over 1100M. The winner’s money in both races is worth a $120,000 in the 1100M sprint.
The top individual performers will receive trophies compliments of the Trophy Stall in Bourda Market which will include champion jockey, trainer and stable.
