Chateau Margot murder…

The bandit, who was shot and killed during a brazen daylight robbery at Chateau Margot on Tuesday morning, has been identified as 17-year-old Randy Orin Daniels, of Lot 47 Norton Street, Lodge.
That robbery left businessman Dennis Ramah dead.
According to a police source, the teen’s mother who works at the Georgetown Public Hospital, turned up yesterday to identify the body which was at the hospital’s mortuary.
This newspaper was told that the woman, in a statement told the police that she received a call informing her about the incident.
She later when down to the hospital where she positively identified her son.
On Friday last, two bandits who were caught after the robbery were charged with Ramah’s murder.
Victor Bobb and Quincy Arthur were not required to plead to the indictable charge of murder when they appeared before Magistrate Judy Latchman at Sparendaam.
It was alleged that the men, on November 16, killed Denis Ramah. They were remanded to prison and are expected to make their court appearance on January 20 next.
Meanwhile, this newspaper was told that Bobb was only released from prison days before he committed the act.
The businessman was shot and killed after he put up a fierce fight against five armed bandits who invaded his home and business place at 18 Second Street Chateau Margot, East Coast Demerara.
The brazen daylight robbery left the businessman and Daniels dead.
Bobb and Arthur were captured a short distance away from the scene. Rural Constable Davenand Shymaraj and passerby Daniel Muller were also injured in the shootout.
The businessman’s son, Nigel, had told Kaieteur News that around 09:30 hours on Tuesday a man entered Ramah’s business place, L&D Shopping Centre, posing as a customer.
He said that the man ordered a “chip” from an employee and as she was attending to the “customer”, four other men entered the supermarket.
He said that two of the men then held the employees at gunpoint and ordered them to lie face down on the floor, while the other three went upstairs.
While in the businessman’s home, Ramah said that his mother, Lorine Ramah, was held at gunpoint and was ordered by one of the gunmen to hand over cash and jewellery. He said that his mother directed the men to a cupboard in the kitchen.
“Meh mother tell dem de money in de cupboard in de kitchen, fuh try fuh distract them,” the son explained.
It was while in the kitchen, that his father entered the house with a cutlass and attacked one of the gunmen from behind. He stated that the gunman was chopped on his back. It was then that one of that gunman’s accomplices shot his father several times in the chest.
