The second semi-final of the NaMilCo Football Festival between hosts Fruta Conquerors and Santos will be played today from 19:00 hrs, at the Tucville ground.
The match which was part of a double header that also featured Alpha United and Sunburst Camptown which the former won 3-1 was affected by a power outage that affected the City and had to be abandoned by the Organisers.
In the previous encounter which saw only 39 minutes played was scoreless up to the time the lights went out, but it appeared as though the homesters were beginning to seize the initiative, especially through their young brigade led by the nippy and crafty Pernell Schultz, who was being supported by the experienced Gerald Gritten, Lester Peters and last stop Colin Edwards, who has been the most outstanding player on the team since his inclusion.
Santos has shown what a solid and stubborn team they’ve become and many know that today’s game is not an easy one for Conquerors.
The match is anticipated to be an exciting and with the winner set for a date against the mighty Alpha United there is enough incentives at stake to bring out the best in both teams.
The winner is set to cart off a top prize of $500,000, while the most Valuable Player receives a cash prize courtesy of 2J’s General Store of Regent Street; highest goalscorer gets a gold chain compliment of Junior’s Jewellery of Bourda Market; Best Goalkeeper takes home a Cell phone and $5,000 credit put up by Bayridge Taxi Service of Sherriff Street, while Global Technology has awarded two computer scholarships.
Other sponsors include Banks DIH, Oasis Water Company and GT&T.
