Police were up to yesterday still questioning a Linden man in connection with the death of Alexis Perreira, whose decomposing remains were found in a yard at Matthew’s Lane, Christianburg, last Saturday.
The 47-year-old man, known to residents as David Subner, ‘Samo’, was taken into custody shortly after Perreira’s body was found in a clump of bushes near his home.
The lot on which the body was found, occupies the house in which David Subner lives. Kaieteur News understands that ‘Samo’ was convicted some years ago for severing the hand of a Linden youth. So far, police have no evidence linking him to Perreira’s demise, although there are reports that the two were associates.
A post mortem is still to be done on the woman’s remains.
Perreira’s partially nude and decomposing body was discovered in a bushy area on Saturday.
The victim’s 19-year-old daughter, Kezia Dawson, identified the remains.
The discovery was made shortly before 07:00 hrs on November 13, by a woman who lives next door to the property on which the body was found.
The owner of the property, George Subner, also known as ‘Georgie’ is reportedly somewhere in the interior, while his brother, David, also called ‘Samo’, occupies the bottom flat.
A resident, Elwin Gullin, said that he became aware of an obnoxious smell, since Friday night, but thought that an animal’s carcass had been discarded nearby.
The victim’s daughter, Kezia Dawson, said she last saw her mother on Wednesday.
