Nov 15, 2010 Letters
Dear Editor,
I am directly responding to Vishnu Bisram’s letter published in Kaieteur News dated November 14, 2010, that sex offender, “Dr. Persaud should be given a chance”, is completely irrational and without merit.
If Bisram believes, as he stated, that Dr. Persaud was framed, then he Bisram is either insane or has an ill-conceived judgment. First of all, if Dr. Persaud was innocent then he should have entered a not guilty plea to the charges. And two, he was given every opportunity and ample time to appeal his conviction and he did not? This is a clear signal that he was guilty. Dr. Persaud knows and Bisram is fully aware that in the U.S. or in any other country, a guilty plea is an admission of guilt and that ignorance of the law is no excuse. I need not say more.
The cases cited by Bisram are trumped up because he has a reputation to exaggerate and make up stories to convince readers that he is a scholar and has researched the topic. Well, Bisram there is nothing to research in Dr. Persaud’s case, because he pleaded guilty to child molestation charges to the court and was sentenced accordingly.
Furthermore, if the teachers cited by Bisram in New York did not know that a guilty plea is admitting guilt, then they ought not to be teachers. The same is true for Bisram, who claims that he knows everything yet he has shown his ignorance by saying that the teachers and Dr. Persaud were not aware of the circumstances of a guilty plea.
Can someone show me the cave in which Bisram lives? Not even the most uncivilized is allowed to make such asinine statement.
Based on his letters, there is enough evidence to conclude that Bisram is a PPP propagandist. This we know from his various faked polls. Bisram never wrote a letter in support of wrongful dismissals of Guyanese in Guyana by the PPP regime. But he had the audacity to defend drug lord Roger Khan, whom he claimed should not be imprisoned because he was fighting crime in Guyana, but in the same breath, he made it clear that that former GDF Major Clarke should be imprisoned for drug possession and for failing to carry out government orders in Buxton.
Again, this is very poor judgment by Bisram as was his so-called deceptive faked polls in the Trinidad and Tobago elections. Roger Khan admitted to various crimes and was sentenced to 15 years in prison, while Major Clarke was vindicated of all charges.
Bisram continues to display his lapse of memory by not mentioning that Dr. Persaud admitted to the court that his sexual molestation of the little girl spanned four and a half years.
It started in 2003 and ended in 2007 when the girl in question told an adult. Dr. Persaud also admitted that he was addicted to child molestation and sought therapeutic assistance and that he forged letters of recommendation to bolster his reputation as a medical practitioner. Similar charges are levied against him by Chairman Dr. Amir of the Medical Council of Guyana.
Bisram of all persons should understand that Dr. Persaud is not only a convicted child sex offender felon and a paedophile which he admitted to, but also a sycophant who cannot be trusted with patients and who should be fired promptly.
