Several local umpires were successful at the West Indies cricket umpires association 2010 final written examination which took place recently at the Georgetown Cricket club pavilion.
Heading the list is chairman of the Wakenaam Cricket Umpires Association and Secretary of the Essequibo Cricket Umpires and Scorers Association, Lennie Mohamed. Other successful umpires are Kaieteur News, sports correspondent, Zaheer Mohamed of Wakenaam who is also a West Indies Cricket Board accredited level 1 coach, Montgomery Chester (Demerara), Delvin Austin. (Pomeroon – E’bo), Totaram Ramnarine (Wakenaam), Anwar Baksh (Essequibo Coast), Anthony Ramsahoi (Berbice) and Owen Archer (Berbice).
Secretary of the Essequibo Umpires and Scorers Association, Lennie Mohamed, told Kaieteur Sports that he is pleased Essequibo secured five passes and would like to thank the President of the Essequibo Association Zabeer Zakier who assisted the umpires in their training. Nine Guyanese wrote the examination.
