The 2010 National Fullbore Rifle Shooting Championships of the Guyana NRA kicked off yesterday and will run until tomorrow at the Timehri Rifle Ranges. Fierce competition is expected as Rifle Shooters compete over the 300, 500, 600, 900 and 1000 yards ranges to be crowned National Fullbore Rifle Champion for 2010, in the Senior (‘X’) and Junior (‘O’) Classes.
At the end of the first Day, Fullbore Captain, Mahendra Persaud had won both the 300 and 500yds ranges and thus the Day’s Grand Aggregate.
The Valladares Trophy which is shot for at the 500yds was also won by Mahendra Persaud with a score of 49 points and 6 V-Bulls.
Caribbean Champion Ransford Goodluck won the silver medal at the 300yds and also was second in the Day’s Aggregate, winning another silver medal.
The resurgent Lennox Braithwaite won bronze at the 300, 500 and the Day’s Aggregate. Ryan Sampson won a Silver medal at the 500yds to complete the takings for the Day.
In the O Class, Peter Persaud won Gold at the 300, 500 and the Day’s Aggregate. He was followed by Lt. Col Terrence Stuart who won Silver at the two ranges and the Day’s Aggregate.
The National Fullbore Championship continues today where the riflemen will be at the 300, 600 and 900yds ranges.
The three day Championship is being sponsored by Queensway.
This is the first time that a business entity has sponsored the entire Rifle Shooting Championship and the Guyana NRA wishes to thank this Sponsor Sincerely.
