The Guyana Defence Force (GDF) defeated Victoria Kings by 2-0 when play in the Guyana Football Federation (GFF) Super League football tournament continued over the past weekend. Telson McKennon scored in the 21st minute for the winners with support from Eusi Phillips in the 26th to push the GDF to 31 points and a third place berth having completed their quota of games.
The other game scheduled for that night between Liquid Gold and Buxton United had to be aborted after the former team failed to show up for the match after administrators cited their inability to mobilize the required amount of players to travel to Georgetown.
Buxton United gained the walk over and advances to 18 points giving them a realistic chance of staying in contention. Top XX, on 13 points and Liquid Gold on 11 are the two teams that will certainly be eliminated from the other round of the tournament scheduled to get underway early next year.
Action in the super league continues this Sunday with 3 games.
