Doubles emerged as one of the winners of the East Coast Zone of the Ivanoff sponsored National Domino competition by getting the better of West End and Sliders in the zone final to book their spot in the National play-offs.
The winner of the East Coast Zone ‘2’ which is scheduled to be contested this weekend at ‘Pieces’ in Buxton will join Doubles as the East Coast contenders for the overall National title along with the other champion teams from the other zones.
Action in the Georgetown zone ‘1’ is scheduled to conclude today at Spot 7 in La Penitence while the Linden zone is expected to climax on Friday at the McKenzie Sports Club.
The Essequibo Coast zone ‘1’ will have action at Rajendra Singh’s residence in Cullen from November 14 while zone ‘2’ of the Region 2 competition is slated to start at TD Persaud’s residence in Sparta on November 21.
Competition is also expected to be keenly contested in zone ‘2’ of the Georgetown zone from November 15 at Toolsie Datt’s residence on Sheriff Street, C/Ville and from November 16 at Mambo Bar in Kitty.
In the East Coast zone ‘1’ final, R. Telford and S. Dublin were on fire with 16 games each to spearhead Doubles to the top spot.
In the semi-finals, Doubles had finished 2nd to West End with 77 points after K. Ramdoom and J. Rambrattan had marked 18 games each to lead West End to 83 points. Bottom End finished in the cellar position with 66 points.
