The Georgetown Public Hospital is yet to tell the parents of Quincy Softleigh how exactly their seven-year-old boy died while under the care of the hospital two weeks ago.
When news of the boy’s death circulated in the local media, the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) said it was investigating the death and launched an internal investigation into the death of seven-year-old Quincy Softleigh, who died at the hospital under questionable circumstances.
The boy’s mother, Natasha Softleigh, had alleged that after leaving him with an oxygen tube attached to his body the night before, she returned to find the tube detached and the only explanation given by nurses was that they were “tidying up” and the tube probably slipped out.
The boy died two Thursdays ago.
The child was admitted to the institution after he complained of back pains as a result of an injury he sustained while playing in the yard of his school, St Gabriel’s Primary.
After a delay, the post mortem was conducted last Wednesday, and the child was buried on Thursday.
However, the mother yesterday confirmed that the results of the post mortem were not told to the family.
She said that the family was told that samples have to be sent elsewhere for further tests and that they should check back with the hospital in two weeks.
