BK Western Tigers through a 32nd minute strike from Lorenzo Dewsbury squeezed past Riddim Squad last Saturday in the feature match of a double-header in the NaMilCo Football Festival that was played last Saturday, at the Tucville ground.
In the other game in the competition, New Amsterdam United defeated Rosignol United 2-1 to also advance to the next round.
On target for the winners were Kelvin Joseph (39) and Adrian Adams (83), while Cliff Campbell opened the scoring in the game with a goal in the 26th minute of play.
Meanwhile, another double-header is planned for this evening as quarterfinal action commences, at the same venue.
In the opening game, BK Tigers is set to collide with Santos from 18:00 hrs, while in the feature match hosts Fruta Conquerors takes on GDF from 20:00 hrs.
The Conquerors versus the GDF is anticipated to be a bruising affair with the experienced Gerald Gritten expected to be at the helm of a young, but determined side that also include the two heroes of their previous game in Pernell Schultz and Travis Hackett.
The Army will start as favourites and this is obvious since they are packed with players with far more experience than those of Conquerors.
The prolific Warren Gilkes, Hubert Pedro and Randy Andres have already shown what a potent strike force they are and the fledgling Conquerors backline will be severely tested.
