At GFC last Friday, 3 games were played in the Guyana Football Federation Super League Seawall upsetting GDF by 1 goal to nil. The game was originally scheduled for Uitvlugt Ground but at the last minute the Guysuco Officials stopped the marking of the venue hence the game had to be rescheduled. They cited that the Ground was wet and cricket was scheduled for the next day and playing there was a risk of damaging the pitch.
Scoring for Seawall was Andy Gillis in the 17th minute. Seawall climbed to 20 points and are sitting comfortably in 6th position, this was Seawall’s 5th win in succession. This loss have immediately eliminated GDF from attaining the 2nd position, they remain on 28 points with 1 game remaining, Milerock is on 32 points with a game remaining. Camptown and Rosignol United are both on 27 points with 2 games each left. They have to play each other and both teams have to play Alpha United.
In Game 2, Rosignol United came back twice and drew the contest against Buxton United 2 all. Buxton United scorers were Orson Washington in the 31st and Denver Dennis 70th minutes, Rosignol replied through Delwin Fraser and Garson Baker. Rosignol United are now on 27 whilst Buxton goes up to 15 points with 2 games remaining.
In Game 3, Camptown overpowered Victoria Kings by 4 goals to 2. For Camptown Nigel Codrington rolled back the years by scoring twice in the 32nd and 61st minutes, a spectator shouted ” We want you in Trinidad” (referring to Digicel Cup), Devon Forde in the 10th and Reshawn Sandiford in the 50th were the other goal scorers. Victoria Kings got goals from Robert Souza and Samuel Blackett in the 42nd and 78th minutes respectively.
And up at Bartica, Milerock had to overcome a determined Liquid Gold and came out victorious with a hard fought 1 nil victory, Kevin Luke scored in the 79th minute. With this win Milerock have booked their place in the Top 4 with 32 points and are certain of placing 3rd. Only Rosignol United and Camptown can pass 32 points but both cannot do so at the same time because they have to play each other. They also have to face Alpha United.
Today Alpha United and Milerock will collide as the tournament continues.
