After submitting a formal complaint to the Diamond Diagnostic Centre several weeks ago on issues surrounding the death of her six-year-old daughter, Brianna Chichester; a worried mother, Samantha Ramoodit, of 305, BB Eccles, New Scheme, East Bank Demerara, is yet to receive any response of the findings of the investigation that was supposed to be carried out by the Director of the hospital.
“I left my contact information on the envelope and have got no response as yet.”
Her six-year-old daughter was taken to the Diamond Diagnostic Centre on September 26, 2010, because she collapsed and was previously experiencing a hot fever.
She said that after explaining what had transpired to a male doctor at the Diagnostic Centre, she was told “to give her some B-Complex and a soft drink…since she was lacking energy.”
However, her daughter was rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital the following day where she was pronounced dead.
The depressed mother said that on September 29, last, a post mortem revealed that the cause of death was Bronchial Pneumonia.
“The doctor at Diamond Hospital should have known something; he should have done some tests…He is the doctor there, even if they don’t have the equipment to do the tests.
“He should have said, ‘Miss, take her to town hospital, or private hospital to run some more tests to find what her real problem was.’ The mother noted.
According to Ramoodit, it appears as if she is being given the royal run around, and is afraid nothing might ever surface out of the issue.
She is worried that other mothers might have to feel the pain and suffering she has endured because of lack of proper medical care and advice that was not given to her daughter at the Diamond Diagnostic Centre.
She is alleging that the negligence of a doctor at the Diamond Diagnostic Centre contributed to the death of her six year-old daughter, and is calling on the relevant authorities to investigate into the issue since it speaks a great deal of the lack of professionalism in the medical system.
