Burglar caught in the act can’t post bail

Police responded promptly to a call and intercepted a thief in the act of breaking into a resident’s home and after a chase apprehended the culprit
The man, Hubert Thomas, 31, of Angoy’s Avenue, was on Tuesday granted bail in the sum of $150,000 by Magistrate Adela Nagamootoo when he appeared before her at the New Amsterdam Magistrate Court on the charge of burglary.
The court was told that on October 31,  around 2:30 hrs, Deodat Singh, a businessman of Vryman’s Erven New Amsterdam was at home when he was aroused by a family member who told him that someone was trying to break into the house.
He, upon peeping out, saw Thomas breaking the vent block in the bid to enter the house. The man immediately summoned the police who responded promptly and caught the culprit in the act.
Upon seeing the cops he made a dash for it but was successfully pursued and caught.
In court he was not required to plead and was placed on $150,000 bail, but stated that he does not have any money, so he will have to remain in jail and his matter will continue on February 4.
