– Crime Chief
Assistant Police Commissioner (Law Enforcement) Seelall Persaud says that samples from several items related to the murder of bank employee, Sheema Mangar, are to be sent to an overseas laboratory.
He said that analysis of the samples, including forensic evidence taken from “more than one vehicle” will undergo DNA and other testing.
However, Persaud did not identify the laborotary or the country to which the samples are being taken.
Kaieteur News understands that the evidence includes a piece of fabric that was found on one car and a strand of hair that was recovered from another vehicle.
Three people were detained during the investigation.
Detectives have collected two sets of clothing that belonged to the victim in an effort to ascertain whether it matches the fabric found on one of the vehicles.
Mangar was waiting for transportation near the junction of North Road and Camp Street last September when a man snatched her phone.
The thief then entered a silver-grey car and ran Mangar over as she stood in front of the vehicle in an attempt to retrieve the stolen item.
