The upcoming All-Star Basketball Weekend, which is dubbed the Basketball Staff Party, yesterday received valuable support from the Georgetown and Linden sub-associations for basketball as preparation for the event continues.
The All-Star Weekend, which has been extended to three days November 12-14 this year, will feature for the first time in Guyana, the AND 1 Legends, who are scheduled to arrive in the country on November 9 for the mega event.
Wildfire Entertainment yesterday hosted a forum to inform the media of the Georgetown Amateur Basketball Association (GABA) and Linden Amateur Basketball Association (LABA) sanctioning of their representative teams.
The AND 1 Legends will be performing on the first and second nights while they will be taking on the Guyana All-Star Team on the final night in a serious game. The weekend is loaded with additional features in its eighth edition.
The first night will feature the junior Linden vs Georgetown All-Star game, senior dunk and senior three-point contests. During the breaks on both nights there will be the quick bucks contest and half-court shootout for $100,000.
Wildfire has informed that the half-court shootout prize has remained the same because in the history of the event, no one has ever made the shot. Linden vs Georgetown senior game will be played on the second night of the event.
The penultimate night will also feature the junior dunk and junior three-point shootouts with the AND 1 Legends set to perform their amazing tricks. Cheerleaders and comedian, Chow Pow will be present to entertain on all nights.
Popular local actor, Sheldon Braithwaite will host the event. Wildfire has informed that all clubs have until 6pm on Sunday, November 14 to submit their shooting and dunking entries that will contest the AND Street-Ball Legends.
