The annual Diwali motorcade will be held this evening forcing a rerouting of vehicular traffic that may be using the route.
According to a police release the motorcade will leave the Shri Krishna Mandir in Campbellville and proceed west to Sandy Babb Street.
The procession will then turn north into J.B Singh Road, then east into Clive Lloyd Drive and into the Rupert Craig Highway and along the East Coast Public Road to the L.B.I Community Centre Ground, East Coast Demerara.
In order to ensure the smooth and uninterrupted movement of the motorcade, the police are advising that motorists viewing the motorcade ensure that their vehicles are properly parked on the parapets.
Pedestrians are also asked not to cross the roads in front of or between the motorcades.
Both pedal cyclists and motor cyclists are asked not to ride along side of the motorcade.
The Police Force is informing the general public that in order to facilitate the movement of the Diwali motorcade, the following roads will be closed to vehicular traffic from 18:00h, today.
From Vlissengen Road/Clive Lloyd Drive to LBI, (northern carriageway); Sheriff Street between David Street and Rupert Craig Highway; and lastly vehicles travelling east on Carifesta Avenue will turn south on Vlissengen Road.
No vehicles will be allowed to park on the northern side of the northern carriageway from Clive Lloyd Drive/Rupert Craig Highway to LBI, ECD.
