Guyanese Mark Murray could have a battle on his hands Saturday night at the Princess Hotel and Casino when he battles Canadian Richard Reittie over six rounds on one of seven fights on the Caribbean Fury 2 International Boxing card.
Fast rising Toronto Middleweight prospect who has 3 knock-outs from 4 his four Professional fights, scored another KO win last Friday night in San Antero, Colombia just 7 days since his last ring appearance in Moncton, New Brunswick where he won a decision over the previously unbeaten Jordan Clarke.
The Canadian’ next fight is at Providence on Saturday night and the 32-year-old arrived in Guyana on Monday night full of confidence.
“I just want to go out there and fight to the best of my ability; I don’t want to make any prediction now, but when I go in the ring then [is] the action,” Reittie stated. “I think it is important I keep fighting, not just try to do anything special, but go out there and try to improve my boxing skills and technique,” Reittie declared.
So far Reittie has fought on four occasions since he began his professional career last January.
Reittie’s Manager Carlos Cuedvas, is confident that his fighter will produce a memorable performance when he going into the ring for the first time on Guyanese soil come Saturday.
Meanwhile, Mike Schmidt, as lawyer and agent for Jensen Strauss Boxing Limitee informed that Jensen Strauss Boxing Limitee has aligned itself with Saturday’s second staging of Caribbean Fury 2, promoted by Carwyn Holland’s Holland Promotions and will co-sponsor the Reittie/Murray fight.
Top rated super-bantamweight champion Guyanese Leon Moore, top rated IBF super-middleweight USA based- Guyanese Raul Frank, World Champion Shondell Alfred, and Canadian Richard Reittie are expected to be ‘crowd pullers’ for this event at Guyana’s premier Hotel.
With the fight card to be broadcast by ESPN, Schmidt said “Carwyn Holland and Holland Promotions have been great to work with and are a significant boxing group. The line up for Caribbean Fury 2 speaks for itself in that regard.
The Jamaican-born has already been compared to the great welterweight Marlon Starling because of his style and the North American is hoping to celebrate his Caribbean heritage by performing for the first time in Guyana on a card headlined by top ranked talent.
