Another road accident last evening around 19:30 hours on Lombard Street Georgetown, left a number of people hospitalised.
According to eyewitnesses, a speeding car came “dashing” out of Princes Street, Charlestown, and collided with a route 72 minibus.
It then lost control and crashed into a GPL electrical post causing sparks to fly into all directions.
The minibus, BMM 1185, was loaded with passengers while the car had three occupants. The driver of the car was identified as Avinash Parsram.
Public-spirited persons rushed to the aid of the occupants of both motor-vehicles, but more focus was placed on the vehicle that Pashram was driving, since it was quite visible that it had sustained much more damage than the minibus.
Kaieteur News was at the scene at the time of the incident, while the public-spirited individuals were trying to pry open the doors of the motor-car to free the occupants.
An eyewitness explained that he saw the minibus driving along Broad Street while Parsram “sped out” of Princes Street, and caused the collision.
A route 42 minibus pulled alongside the damaged vehicles and the conductor of that bus ran to lift the body of the female passenger out of the car. She was barely moving at the time.
According to persons on the scene, when they spoke to Parsram, his speech was slurred and he smelt of alcohol. The other two occupants in his car also appeared to be under the influence as well.
