A motorcyclist is currently being treated at a city hospital after he was struck by one of two vehicles that collided at the corner of D’Urban and John Streets, Werk-en-Rust.
One of the cars, PEE 1939, was heading west along D’Urban Street when it was struck by another car, PLL1958, that was attempting to cross the street, from north to south.
According to the driver of PEE 1939, L.W Cox, he noticed that the other car had stopped on the corner so he decided to proceed. He said that the car just made a sudden move sending his vehicle crashing into a parked motorcycle.
The man who was on the motorcycle was struck off his bike. He was picked up and rushed to a city hospital.
There was some confusion at the scene of the accident about who was driving PLL 1958, which according to eyewitnesses, was “the vehicle in the wrong”.
Cox claimed that he recognized clearly who was driving the car that struck him but another man who was in the passenger seat had since sought to take responsibility for the accident claiming to be the driver.
The matter has been reported and investigations are ongoing.
