Guyanese Nurse ‘doctors’ bowlers to take Tobago Cricketer-of-the-Year award
Twenty-three year old West Berbice batsman Troy Nurse enjoyed his best season to become the first Guyanese selected on a Tobago cricket team after being voted the 2010 Tobago Cricketer of the year.

The talented Nurse has been making a name for himself in Tobago’s cricket by consistently ‘doctoring’ the opposition’s bowlers and scored 3 centuries and 5 fifties in his 12 two-day league matches this season.
“I have played twelve matches for Scarborough Mason Hall Cricket Club. It was one of the best years in my life of cricket. I scored 122not out, 131, 113not out and also made 62, 60, 51, 54 & 72 to help propel my team to top of the points table in the two-day competition,” Nurse informed Kaieteur Sport from his home in Tobago.
Nurse said that based on his performance at the club level he was selected to play for Tobago senior team in the Inter Zone tournament that was played in Trinidad.
“As the first Guyanese to ever play for Tobago I am proud of myself, knowing that I came from the West Berbice Cricket Club and many thanks to the members there for helping me to develop my cricket,” Nurse said.
The Guyanese said that the standard of cricket is fairly high in Tobago although most of the spotlight is on cricket in Trinidad and explained that the main reason he is playing on the Island is to lift his game and try to return home to vie for selection for Berbice.
Several Guyanese players also play club cricket in Tobago including Jeremy Cambridge and Andrew Dennis of West Berbice, and the DCC pair of Jared and Jason Persaud.
